Karina Kerrigan LCGI, MHAO, CFR1

I have worked in the animal industry full time since 1987. Primarily in the grooming industry. Being a self taught groomer drove a passion for learning and a deeper understanding of the career. I am a founder member of the Irish Professional Dog Groomers Association. A body set up in the mid 1990s by conscientious groomers to raise the standard of Grooming in Ireland. I have also competed many times in Ireland and won Irish Groomer of the Year, Individual Groomer, Scissor, Hand-Strip and Clipped Classes during those years. I also competed in UK and was placed in the hand-strip Gundog Experienced group. I competed in Europe as part of the Irish grooming team on three occasions. Through the years I have worked towards industry led exams and I qualified in City and Guilds 7750, the BDGA Higher Diploma, LCGI with City and Guilds and am a member of the Guild of Master Groomers. I also completed a Teaching Certificate with NUI Maynooth. To promote Canine First Aid, Health & Safety, I studied, qualified and am now a Canine First Responder and Instructor. I have also studied Animal Energy Healing. The passion now is to pass on as much knowledge as I can to the future generations of groomers.
